Who would’ve thought? This has been a complete Cinderella story of a season. From years upon years of pain, losses, failure, the ups & downs for fans… Who would’ve thought EXACTLY a year ago, that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came out to surprised the world by winning the Super Bowl this season… Nonetheless in their own stadium. No other team has played in their own host city & won it. History. Tom Brady has proved he is beyond “Thanos Level” …. The GOAT received his 7th Infinity Stone (Championship) out of 10 Attempts. He has been arguably the GOAT for the last 5 years after they Defeated the Seahawks in the SuperBowl. But ends up coming back to win 3 more after? No debate he is.

The ageless wonder Signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on March 20th, 2020 during the NFL Free Agency period. This was the most Tampa Bay has gotten media recognition in years. This moved turned many heads as the 43 year old just left the New England Dynasty that sparked a ton of debate whether the old QB still had some fuel left in the tank. Critics, analysts & fans were originally torn on if the Patriots success was driven from the Coach (Bill Belichick) or the Player (Tom Brady)….. Well the answer was clear. It was the GOAT. The Patriots ended up missing the playoffs for the first time in a long time. The Buccaneers erased a playoff drought since 2007 & won the Super Bowl. Leading up was perfect, the “Brady Affect” was in full circle. Jason Licht brought in a winning mentality by adding veteran players like Leonard Fournette, Rob Gronkowski, LeSean McCoy & even took a bold choice by signing Antonio Brown.

The season wasn’t all perfect. The team started off losing to New Orleans during week one. Twitter couldn’t get over the Jameis Winston Meme. But eventually the team started winning games. We swept every other divisional rival except the Saints. The team lost a key defensive player in week 5 against Chicago (Vita Vea) which ultimately changed the dynamic of our defense for a few weeks. DL was not as productive as normal, sack production was coming down in JPP & Shaq, the young secondary kept on getting roasted by quarterbacks almost every week. But eventually the team tightened up, Bowles introduced new schemes & blitzes. All what was left in the offense to put up points. There was a couple games this year where the Buccaneers came back from 17 point deficits. They showed signs of absolute greatness & power but then often took their “foot off the pedal” once they got too comfortable. Tom Brady joined a very talented Tampa Bay roster that did not know how to win. It showed once we had games where teams started to come back on us. Even the NFC Championship became a nail biter. But all in all, Brady is Brady. He won us most of these games. The team’s last loss was in the end of November against the Kanas City Chiefs. That team completely dissected our defense in that first half, Tyreek went for over 200 yards in the 1st half but it showed the team had issues going into bye week. The team lost 27-24, which resulted in the Buccaneers record to 7-5. Many people in the media started questioning the credibility of Tom Brady, individual coaches and players. The team was lacking consistency & explosion. This team had the best team on paper, yet couldn’t seem too click. How are you losing games when you have Brady working the players like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Cam Brate, Ronald Jones, L. Fournette, Rob Gronkowski, OJ Howard, Antonio Brown & Scotty Miller? It was clear they weren’t working to their strengths. All sudden, this team came out after the Bye-Week like they were who they were supposed to be. Tampa Bay ended up winning out the last 4 games of the regular season which clinched them a playoff spot at 11-5. The team had a tough road in the playoffs as they played in every round of the playoffs on the road. They got revenge on the Saints. They still held off MVP Aaron Rodgers. They had the perfect road to reach the Super Bowl in their home stadium. They did it for themselves, each other & for the city. But that is what makes it perfect. A team growing & overcoming adversity. This is much deserved for big character players like Will Gholston, Mike Evans & Lavonte David. They have been through so much with this team, they’ve had many coaches, coaches & players come across them during their tenures here. Knowing the life stories of these men, this Super Bowl should go down as memorable for the rest of their lives, and ours.

Last week, prior to the game leading up, I had a memory. I was in Canada in 2013 for the CFL Grey Cup Championship game in Regina, Saskatchewan. The teams playing was the Hamilton Tiger-Cats against nonetheless the Saskatchewan Rough-Riders. In the CFL they do it the same as the NFL where they have to plan Championship locations in advance, so it was pretty miraculous to see a home team play in their home stadium. They destroyed Hamilton. Point is, being in the city that entire week, the attitude was surreal. The team knew they couldn’t lose in front of their home stands. They knew they couldn’t fail. They knew they were going to win & that is what exactly happened to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the Super Bowl. They couldn’t let the city down. It was an ultimate home game.
