Buccaneers Workout Familiar Face After Alex Cappa Injury

Published by Cory Hays on

According to Dov Kleiman and Greg Auman of The Athletic, the Buccaneers worked out former starting OG Earl Watford. Watford was brought in on Sunday after Alex Cappa went down during the game against Washington with a fractured ankle.

Watford played for the Buccaneers last season and was drafted back in 2013 by the Arizona Cardinals. Earl Watford is currently undergoing league COVID-19 testing protocols and will be eligible to sign with the team on Thursday if all goes well. According to Auman, Watford would go to the practice squad and provide depth for the Buccaneers offense who have become thin on the line with different injuries. Watford stated on his Twitter that he’s going through the protocols until Friday so he’s unemployed until then. Familiarity with the system would be a good sign for Watford to sign over another player who has never played under Bruce Arians and company.
