Shaquil Barrett Accepts Franchise Tag Tender… With A Twist

Published by Cory Hays on

Shaquil Barrett has informed the Buccaneers that he is accepting the franchise tag tender placed on him. However, this move comes with a twist. Barrett has filed a grievance to receive the franchise tag as a Defensive End and not a Linebacker. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, knows that there is money to be made and the franchise tag as a DE is $2M more than a LB.

Shaquil Barrett wanted a long term deal in Tampa and the Buccaneers want to see if he’s just a one season wonder with the amazing season that he had last season. Hopefully, this grievance can be resolved quickly and Barrett can come into training camp with a chip on his shoulder to prove that he does indeed deserve a long term deal and more money.
