BREAKING: Buccaneers Pick Up TE OJ Howard’s Fifth-Year Option

Published by Cory Hays on

In a surprising move, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have picked up the fifth-year option on TE OJ Howard’s contract according to Pewter Report. The move is surprising because there were talks of Howard being traded within the last week. A report came from ESPN’s Jenna Laine that a trade fell through between the Redskins and the Buccaneers with Howard going to Washington and Trent Williams to Tampa a few months ago. OJ Howard’s fifth-year option in 2021 is worth $6.2 million. Howard will be lined up across from TE Rob Gronkowski catching passes from QB Tom Brady this season. This move doesn’t necessarily guarantee Howard will be a Buccaneer during the 2021-22 NFL Season though as he could be released or traded at any time.
