Former Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston Finalizing Deal With New Orleans Saints

Published by Cory Hays on

As the draft concluded, there were a lot of names still available in free agency. The most notable QB was Jameis Winston who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Winston went on to set both Buccaneer and NFL records but the most notable stat that people talk about is the 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions that he threw last season. In his five years in Tampa, Jameis Winston threw for 19,737 yards, 121 touchdowns, and 88 interceptions. Winston was replaced this offseason in Tampa by QB Tom Brady and hadn’t found a home yet due to the multiple procedures that he underwent this offseason and teams wanting to see if he was healthy.

Jameis Winston had been in talks with multiple teams but ultimately is signing with the New Orleans Saints on a one year deal. Winston goes to the saints to potentially backup QB Drew Brees and become his replacement next season when Brees retires. We at All Things Buccaneers and Bucs Life Media thank Winston for all that he did in Tampa and wish him the best of luck!
