Buccaneers vs Rams Recap
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went into Los Angeles as 10 point underdogs. They came out with a 15 point victory. How? Well lets get into that.
Jameis Winston was very sharp in this game throwing for 385 yards, 4 TDs and a 120.8 Rating. He threw 1 INT in the fourth quarter but he looks so much more comfortable in this system since that week 1 game. RB Ronald Jones II was happy to be back at the LA Memorial Coliseum as he rushed 19 times for 70 yards and 1 TD. Jones II should’ve had plenty of more yards had it not been for some penalties by the Offense. WRs Chris Godwin and Mike Evans are arguably the best 1-2 punch in the NFL as Evans had a monster game last week and this week it was Godwin. Godwin had 12 receptions for 172 yards and 2 TDs. Evans had a huge 67 yard TD catch on a deep ball dime from Jameis Winston in the 4th quarter that left Marcus Peters in the dust. TE Cam Brate got his first TD of the season. K Matt Gay rebounded from last weeks performance against the Giants going 2 for 2 on FGs with a long of 58 yards and 7 for 7 on extra points.
The Defense forced 4 turnovers off of the Rams. Jared Goff threw for 517 yards with 2 TDs, 3 INTs, and 1 fumble that sealed the game for the Buccaneers. The passes from Goff continued to be thrown underneath at the LBs which is the weakness of the team. RB Todd Gurley rushed 5 times for 16 yards and 2 TDs. The Buccaneers rush Defense the last 3 weeks have held RBs McCaffrey, Barkley, and Gurley to 63 yards on 29 carries. WR Robert Woods had 13 catches for 164 yards and Cooper Kupp had 9 catches for 121 yards and 1 TD. The Defense has continued to stuff the run and make teams pass.
LB Shaq Barrett had another monster game. Barrett had 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT, and 1 forced fumble which DT Ndamukong Suh returned for a TD. DB MJ Stewart had 9 tackles, LB Kevin Minter had 8 tackles, CB Carlton Davis III had 8 tackles, LB Lavonte David had 7 tackles and 1 INT, S Mike Edwards had 6 tackles, and S Jordan Whitehead had 2 tackles and 1 INT.
This was a completely different game than last weeks collapse. The team never took their foot off of the pedal and it led to a W. The Buccaholics showed up and showed out in Los Angeles. The energy was contagious and it had Rams fans leaving the stadium before the game ended when the Buccaneers went up 45-27 in the 4th quarter. The players thrive off of the energy and it was an amazing atmosphere in LA. The Buccaneers are 2-2 now and head into the big easy next week and face off against division foes the New Orleans Saints.
