Week 2 NFC South Update

Published by Cory Hays on

On Thursday, the Buccaneers defeated their divisional rival Carolina Panthers to move to 1-1 on the season. The Panthers loss moved them to 0-2 on the season. The Falcons and Saints would each have games on Sunday against non-divisional foes but familiar faces. The Saints traveled to LA to face off with the Rams in an NFC Championship game rematch. In this game, the Saints would lose 27-9 and move to 1-1 but they’d also lose a player who means a lot to the team in QB Drew Brees. Brees injured his hand two separate times and is seeing a hand specialist today to figure out the severity of the injury. The Falcons would host the Eagles in a rematch of the 2018 NFC Divisional round and this time they were victorious. It was a nail biter until the end but the Falcons stopped the Eagles in the red zone on 4th and 8 by inches and the Falcons moved to 1-1 on the season.

The Buccaneers, Falcons, and Saints are all tied at 1-1 meanwhile the Panthers are 0-2. At the moment, the Buccaneers are atop the NFC South due to beating a divisional opponent. The Buccaneers shift their focus now on the New York Giants, the Saints shift their focus on the Seattle Seahawks, the Panthers shift their focus on the Arizona Cardinals, and the Falcons shift their focus on the Indianapolis Colts.
