Bruce Arians Says There’s 10 Roster Spots Up for Grabs

Published by Cory Hays on

In his press conference on Monday, Head Coach Bruce Arians said this when asked if there’s 10 roster spots up for grabs heading into the final preseason game: “Yeah, that’s probably the number when you’re talking about the sixth lineman, fifth backer, fifth corner, fourth corner – when you’re going around and who’s on [special] teams, there’s about 10 and then there’s 10 practice squad spots for the guys that clear waivers.” There are plenty of guys fighting for these positions as well as the fifth WR spot. The players that will be watched closely on Thursday include Justin Watson, Bobo Wilson, Scotty Miller, De’Vante Harris, Mazzi Wilkins, Terry Beckner Jr., Zack Bailey, David Kenney, and Patrick O’Connor. The fourth preseason game is the game where you prove to the coaching staff that you’re worthy of a roster spot or you will get cut. As Arians said, not every player that gets cut will be off of the team though as they can bring back ten guys to the practice squad once they clear waivers. It’ll be interesting to see how the guys perform when their roster spots are on the line.
