Bruce Arians on if He Has Seen Enough Out of QB Jameis Winston This Preseason

Published by Cory Hays on

Head Coach Bruce Arians was available to the media on Wednesday after practice. Here is what he had to say about QB Jameis Winston via Buccaneers.com:

“You’re always looking for improvement, but he’s played really solid [during] the little bit he’s played and again, [he needs to] protect the football and make those decisions that move the chains. [We need to] play better around him, not have those mental errors where we turn a guy loose on him like they did last week and let him continue to grow.”

Jameis Winston seems to be a new QB under Arians so far. He is throwing the check down and shorter throws more often while protecting the football under pressure. This will be key as the Bucs go into the regular season. He gets under pressure and either uses his big body to elude the sack and run or has taken the sack instead of forcing a throw which we’re so used to him doing. Winston gets a test with the dress rehearsal game tomorrow against the Browns but who knows how much starting units will play for either team.
