Bruce Arians: “He’s the reason I’m here”
The Tampa Bay Times revealed on Saturday that Buccaneers GM Jason Licht received a five year contract extension in Tampa. This news came as a surprise to a lot of people but not to Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians. “I’m surprised it just got out,’’ Arians said Sunday of Licht’s new deal, which was revealed Saturday by the Tampa Bay Times. “It was huge for me because I trust him, I respect him, and he’s the reason I’m here.’’
If anybody was wondering why Licht got an extension, it was to match his contract with Bruce Arians. Jason Licht has been hit or miss on signings and drat picks but without him we don’t get Arians. The Glazer family put Licht in charge of the coaching search and he went out and convinced his friend Bruce Arians to come out of retirement and come to Tampa. Arians believed in Licht and QB Jameis Winston so it was a no brainer for him to leave retirement. A culture change for the organization has begun already with Arians and it looks like it’s just the beginning for the tandem of Arians and Licht.
