Bruce Arians on if Ronald Jones Will Get More Touches Than Peyton Barber
On Saturday, Head Coach Bruce Arians held a press conference to speak about Friday’s preseason game. Here is what he said about the possibility of Ronald Jones getting more touches than Peyton Barber via Buccaneers.com:
“If he gets the hot hand, we are going to go with the hot hand. They are both going to get their opportunities. If you’ve got a guy that’s got a hot hand, you just keep feeding him. Everybody check their ego at the door because it’s all about rushing the football, pass protection [and] doing all of those things – same thing with the receivers. We had a great (opening) drive – O.J. [Howard], [Cameron] Brate and Mike Evans don’t touch the ball. That’s okay.”
It looks like Bruce Arians truly is comfortable with both RBs that the Bucs have right now. Arians says they’ll ride the hot hand but both will get their fair share of touches. This is something that is completely different than the previous regime. Dirk Koetter and company didn’t like giving reps to a rookie RB in Jones so they rode with Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers. Barber and Jones looked good on Friday so hopefully that’s a thing to come this upcoming season and we see them split their reps.
