Ronald Jones on His New Sense of Confidence
On Monday, Buccaneers second year RB Ronald Jones II was available to the media. This is what Ronald Jones II had to say about his confidence heading into the season via Buccaneers.com:
“Yeah, most definitely. With the added weight, I’m able to run in between the tackles more. [I] just feel heavier and stronger – faster too a little bit. So, [it was] all those things going in and then just being ahead of the game with the playbook helps, definitely.”
The Bucs drafted Jones II in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft hoping to find their answer at the RB position. This did not translate well. Jones II was rarely used by the previous coaching staff and there were reports that he couldn’t learn the playbook or pass block. When Jones II reported to training camp this year, he was around 12 pounds heavier of muscle because he worked hard this offseason training to be the best player he could be. This new coaching staff under Arians believe in Jones II and Peyton Barber as the backfield for this upcoming season. From reports and video out of camp, Jones II is definitely taking the next step in his career and should have a breakout season. Pewter Report tweeted out a video of Jones II breaking it down the sideline on July 30th and it shows that his explosiveness and ability is definitely there for him to excel with actual reps.
