Justin Evans Being PUP to Start Training Camp Cause For Concern?
The Buccaneers begin Training Camp officially on Friday with players reporting on Thursday. Starting Safety Justin Evans was placed on Active/Physically Unable to Perform List on Monday so he will not be practicing to begin training camp.
Justin Evans has started 19 games at Safety over his first two seasons in Tampa. Evans has 125 career tackles and 4 INTs in his career. The Buccaneers depth at Safety was addressed this offseason with the additions of Orion Stewart, Mike Edwards, and Kentrell Brice. Out of the three just named, Brice has the most experience in the NFL with three seasons followed by Stewart with one and then Edwards headed into his rookie season.
Kentrell Brice has compiled 94 tackles and 1 INT in his career. Orion Stewart was an undrafted free agent in 2018 before he signed with the Broncos and the Alliance of American Football (AAF). At Kentucky, Mike Edwards compiled 190 tackles and 10 INTs.
With Justin Evans out for the near future, these three will be in a battle to see who can earn that starting Safety position until Evans returns. Until Evans is able to return, he can mentor Stewart and Edwards.
