On Wednesday, June 26th, the number 1 trend worldwide at some point during the day was #GlazersOut. Now what could this possibly mean? Well it technically has nothing to do with the Buccaneers but it has everything to do with their ownership. The Glazer family owns football club Manchester United in England and the fans of the club have had enough and want their club back.
The late Malcolm Glazer and the Glazer family purchased Manchester United in 2005 for $1.4B but he borrowed around $1B of this money. The Glazer family has made $ off of the organization and the majority of it is going into their own pockets and not back to the club. The Manchester United fans want nothing to do with this ownership anymore and want them out. To make matters worse, Manchester United’s stadium Old Trafford is worn down and had water pouring down from the roof in April.
The Glazers being horrible owners over in England has made its way to America. Fans of the Buccaneers are now joining forces with Manchester United fans to call for them to sell the franchises. The Buccaneers and Manchester United both have not done anything significant in the last decade. The common denominator to it is in fact the Glazers. Malcolm Glazer actually cared about winning and putting together a winning product. His children just care about putting money in their pockets and not their franchises succeeding.
Here is a Manchester United Fan in our Twitter Mentions:
Manchester United and Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans across the world are making their voices known now. Could this lead to anything being done? Probably not. Will anything change? Probably not. If the Glazers do care about making $, they’ll sell their teams to someone who can make the necessary changes for success. If not, they’re going to start losing $ and fast.
