The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have long searched for defensive help and with Kwon Alexander leaving for San Francisco the linebacker position became top priority in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Buccaneers decided to spend their first pick on LSU linebacker: Devin White. He may be the most highly touted defensive player drafted by the Buccaneers in recent drafts.

Bruce Arians remarked about his new defensive weapon. Ira Kaufman of JoeBucsFan.com asked Arians about Devin White and he responded,” he is a once in a lifetime attitude.” This is something Tampa Bay hasn’t had since Derrick Brooks. White loves the game of football and now his attitude is affecting everyone surrounding him. Defense is about heart and willing to lay it all on the line. Devin White brings that to a defensive secondary that desperately needs it. The young guys have only experienced success in their careers and now they will need to mesh together to create that winning culture again in Tampa. In recent years, the offense has been high flying and scoring points like crazy, but the defense hasn’t been able to stop the opposing teams practice squad. That changes with the acquisition of Devin White.

The Buccaneers defense will be better this year under Todd Bowles and Devin White could be the anchor. We’ve seen what an adequate offense does with an excellent defense in Tampa (Superbowl XXXVII). Let’s get back to the glory days and WREAK HAVOC!
