Jameis Winston Career Year Upcoming?

Published by Cory Hays on

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston is heading into his 5th season in the NFL and with the Bucs after the team picked up his 5th year option. Bruce Arians was brought in to become the team’s Head Coach after Dirk Koetter was fired from the same position. Around the league, Arians is known as the QB whisperer because of how well his QBs perform. Arians and Winston have a connection going all the way back to camps that Arians hosted in Alabama and Winston attended. Jameis Winston has been an up and down player throughout his 4 seasons but Arians could potentially turn it around with Winston and make him a top tier QB in the NFL with little to no mistakes. A few of the QBs Arians has coached include Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck, and Carson Palmer.

Ben Roethlisberger averaged 3,612 yards, 22.6 TDs, and 11.4 INTs per season in the 5 seasons that Arians coached him. As a rookie in Indianapolis, Andrew Luck compiled 4,374 yards, 23 TDs and 18 INTs. Carson Palmer in Arizona averaged 3,356 yards, 21 TDs, and 11.4 INTs in his 5 seasons. Jameis Winston in Tampa has averaged 3,657 yards, 22 TDs, and 14.5 INTs a season. The INTs are an issue for Winston but Arians and Offensive Coordinator Byron Leftwich are working hard to correct this mechanics issue with Winston. Winston already holds the Bucs franchise record in TD passes thrown in a career and can break the overall passing yards record as well this upcoming season. Jameis’ ceiling is very high and the belief is Arians will bring the best out of him like we saw when he led Florida State to a 26-1 record in his 2 seasons playing there. With Winston in a make or break season to a lot of people, he will bring out that competitive fire that he has inside and will take the league by storm with a career year. This season is going to be the beginning of a perfect QB and coach pairing with Winston and Arians.
