Will Tampa find a three-down RB in Peyton Barber or Ronald Jones?
Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians believes that when you have a three-down back it’s something special. The Running Back position has evolved so much over the years like the game of football that a RB may have to play all 3 downs. Arians has been around some special three-down backs in Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James, and David Johnson so he knows what it takes to put a good RB on the field. Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones are going to be put to the test in order to see if either of them can handle being a three-down back. Barber busts his tail on the field every single play but has not really had to be a pass catching RB due to Jacquizz Rodgers being Dirk Koetter’s security blanket on 3rd downs. Barber has the ability to catch out of the backfield and block on passing plays and that is something that Jones has struggled with. Koetter never gave Ronald Jones a fair chance to play last season but Arians and company believe that in order to succeed you need reps. With reps, anything can happen with the Buccaneers backfield and a three-down back could become a reality.
