David Kenney’s Football journey

Published by Cory Hays on

The Buccaneers announced on Monday that they had signed 4 tryout players from rookie minicamp. The players signed were DE/OLB David Kenney, WR Spencer Schnell, OT Riley Mayfield, and S D’Cota Dixon. Buccaneers brass were very impressed with all 4 of these men but 1 stood out: David Kenney. David Kenney has been on a roller coaster in terms of playing football. He played one season at Indiana but academics forced him to leave the school and go play at Division I-AA Illinois State. After the 2015 college season, Kenney was bouncing from tryout to tryout and was unsuccessful in getting signed anywhere including the Canadian Football League. After the Bucs brought him in for a tryout, he impressed the brass so much with his explosiveness and pass rush that there’s a possibility that he can make the initial 53 man roster. The real test will be when the pads get put on and how Kenney will fare against the veterans on the team. If Kenney makes the roster, that’d be the icing on the cake to an incredible journey back to football.
