Buccaneers Sign Speedy Wide Receiver
Breshad Perriman agreed to terms with the Cleveland Browns and was going to remain with the team for the 2019 season. Until the Browns signed Odell Beckham Jr. and Perriman wanted out of Cleveland at that point, and both sides agreed to void the deal.
The Buccaneers were eyeing the situation closely and pounced immediately. Perriman and Tampa agreed to a 1-year $4 million contract, which is believed to be the same exact agreement he had with Cleveland.
Signing Breshad Perriman will give Godwin competition for the #2 spot. Perriman was signed by the Ravens 26th overall in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft due to the belief of his big playmaking abilities. However, his rookie season was less than spectacular.
Perriman suffered a knee injury that kept him sidelined for his entire rookie season and he hasn’t been able to live up to expectations since. His injury may have knocked his elite (4.19 and 4.24) speed down a few notches. He also struggles at time to get open and has some issues catching the football. Scheme and QB may have played a big part in those issues.
Bruce Arians and company should be able to revamp Perriman’s career, and hopefully, if that happens, the Buccaneers will look good in having snagged the once believed elite talent. He certainly has shown flashes over the years.
