Who is Cody Grimm?
Cody Grimm started out as a redshirt in 2005 for Virginia Tech. He saw his first action in 2006 on special teams and ended the season with 10 tackles.
Limited in his playing time he finally saw action in 2007 where he played in 14 games, recording 27 tackles, and 1 pass defense.
In 2008 everything changed. Grimm played in 14 games where he recorded 71 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions.

During the 2010 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers selected Grimm in the seventh round. He signed a 4-year $1.85 million contract with the Pewter Pirates and then went to work as a Safety.
Playing in 11 games his rookie year, Grimm showed promise, recording 43 tackles, 2 pass defenses, and 2 interceptions, one of which that went for a touchdown. His rookie season was cut short when he fractured his left fibula against the Baltimore Ravens in week 12.
Cody Grimm is the son of Hall of Fame offensive lineman, former Cardinals assistant Head coach, and offensive line coach, Russ Grimm.
His older brother Chad Grimm, who played linebacker for Virginia Tech from 2003-2006, was the Arizona Cardinals Offensive Quality Control coach from 2009-2012 then to the San Diego Chargers to become their Defensive Quality Control coach from 2013- 2014, then moved on to the Washington Redskins as their Defensive Quality Control coach from 2015-2016 and is now the Redskins outside Linebackers Coach.
His younger brother Dylan played lacrosse at the Loyola University Maryland, where he won a national championship in 2012.
His uncle Don Grimm played inside linebacker for the University of Notre Dame, where he helped the team win a National Championship in 1988. In 1991, Donn was signed as an undrafted free agent out to the then-Phoenix Cardinals. He was signed to the practice squad and never made much of an NFL career beyond that.
Donn Grimm was a starting linebacker on the Notre Dame 1988 National Championship team and signed with the Cardinals as a rookie free agent in 1991.
Cody Grimm has quite the family and has had quite the accomplishments, becoming First-team All-ACC, Third-team AP All-American 2009, and winning the Dudley Award 2009, and being awarded the Chick-fil-A Bowl Defensive MVP all in 2009, to winning two ACC Championships in 2007 and 2008.
Now Grimm will rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a defensive assistant coach and a special team’s coach, where he can help mold our guys into achieving their potential.
