Do or Die Time for Vernon Hargreaves
Next season has to be the last chance for Vernon Hargreaves to show that he was worth the #11 overall pick in 2016.
So far, myself as well as many other Bucs fans would say that he hasn’t lived up to the expectations so far and is coming dangerously close to bust status. Despite the fact that addressing the secondary was the right move and a definitive team’s need at the time, personally, when he was drafted, I thought he was way too short to be an effective corner in the NFL.
Hargreaves is entering the final year of his contract, so essentially, he will be playing for his job. Hopefully, that will give him the motivation that he needs to step it up. It’s put up or shut up time for Hargreaves. He is injury prone, and once again, he’s coming off of a season-ending shoulder injury.
In 2016, Hargreaves played in 16 games for the Bucs, 9 in 2017 and only 1 in 2018 with poor stats too. When he is fully healthy for the 2019-2020 season, once again, he will most likely be out an island by himself covering some of the better receivers on the opposing teams.
It’s time for him to prove his worth.
