Week 3: Impact Players to Watch – Pittsburgh @ Tampa Bay

Published by Kevin Sloan on

“Hey! Hey! Tampa Bay”

This week 3 match-up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers and former Buccaneers assistant HC Mike Tomlin on the national stage of ESPN’s Monday Night Football. It is also important because it is the induction of Pro Football Hall of Fame, Buccaneers Head-Coach Tony Dungy getting into the Buccaneers Ring of Honor. *Cue the Monday Night Theme*. After another impressive offensive explosion from Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick aka FitzMagic, the Buccaneers had another game to remember against its Wk. 2 foe against the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Fitzpatrick was passing for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns, while winning his second NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his magical performance. FitzMagic is the first player in NFL History to throw for 400+ yards and 4 touchdowns in the first 2 games of the NFL regular season.

For this week, my impact players of the week for each team is WR DeSean Jackson aka Mama Jackson baby boy for the men in Pewter & Red against WR Antonio Brown for the Steelers. I will explain why:

DeSean Jackson | 11th Year | 5’10 175 lbs. | California

Tampa Bay’s WR DeSean Jackson has been one of the most explosive players in the NFL since coming out of Cali into the league. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2008 NFL Draft. In his 2nd season with the Buccaneers, he is really showing why the Buccaneers went out to sign him in Free Agency last season. It is safe to say with his quick first step and explosive speed, he is a deep-ball threat, down the field which has helped the Buccaneers have a 2-0 record. The Buccaneers first 2-0 start in a decade. His connection with starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has open the eyes of the national media and people are seeing that this Buccaneers team is playing some good football and that “DJax” hasn’t lost a step with averaging over 100 yards receiving and 1 TD per game also he is just one touchdown catch (over 50 plus yards) shy of breaking the record held by HOF WR Jerry Rice which he is hoping to do on Monday night. Additionally, he is currently Pro Football focus highest graded WR with a grade of 94.4 and is the leading NFL receiver for yards. His teammate WR Mike Evans is 3rd on the list at a 90.7 with a min of 8 targets. Watch out fantasy owners.

Antonio Brown | 9th Year | 5’10 181 lbs. | Central Michigan

Pittsburgh’s Wide-Receiver Antonio Brown has been a monster since breaking out of the league back in 2010. The 6th Round Central Michigan product is currently the latest EA Sports Madden 19 cover man and is one of the best wide-receivers in the game, arguably. Alongside running-back, Le’Veon Bell and AB have formed one of the best 1-2 combos of talent in the AFC over the last few seasons. That with help of 2-time SB Champ QB Big Ben Roethlisberger. Antonio Brown recently hit the 10,000 career receiving yards during the start of this young NFL season and he is looking to bring a huge game to the win-less Pittsburgh Steelers. They are still suffering a devastating loss to QB Pat Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs last week, who passed for 6 touchdowns. Antonio Brown and his crew are looking to feast on Monday Night against the Buccaneers young defense, led by Defensive Tackle Gerald McCoy and Linebackers Kwon Alexander and Lavonte David.
